What does hiring an inclusive business mean? What's the difference?
I'm a queer nonbinary fat individual living in the great progressive NW. While I appreciate all of the opportunities here, I still run into accidentally supporting businesses that actively vote with their dollars to make my life and the lives of other marginalized humans harder. They seem to exist everywhere, so I find myself wanting to know more about the ethics and values of a company than ever before.
I decided to start with mine. Hiring a business who specializes in queer couples and weddings means:
-that your pronouns don't go unnoticed
-you are represented
-your body is celebrated positively
-heteronormative language is void
-you have a safe space to truly let go and feel
-intersectional values are always appreciated and enforced
-I don't photograph anything appropriative to another culture, weddings on active or former plantations (for clients in the south), or illegal such as train tracks and private no access locations.
What if I don't identify as LGBTQ+?
COME! You can identify with these missions and values and not be queer! Presenting my values and who I am is apart of attracting a variety of individuals who want to utilize a space they feel comfortable in.
How much are your wedding collections?
Send me an email and I'll be able to link you to all kinds of information. The best way to get an accurate quote and easily find what fits you and your budget is to include:
-hours of coverage desired
-products you'll want afterward
-location of wedding (for any potential travel fees outside the Portland area)
-and budget! Being honest lets me work within your means and give you the most for your money.
What do we wear to our family/couples/engagement sessions?
Clothing really is important! First and foremost, wear what you feel confident and comfortable in. There is nothing worse than feeling awkward or stiff in clothing that doesn't reflect you. There is also nothing better than feeling like you've totally rocked something and staring in the mirror with a smile for a while.
Trendy leather jackets in the city, flowy dresses in a field, or hiking wear- use your surroundings to help decide your apparel! Dress for the atmosphere, weather, and season.
Try to avoid patterns. Plaid, bright colors, identical clothing, clashing patterns, or logos take away from the subject and make the focus less about you. Neutrals flatter a variety of skin tones, bodies, and keep the eye on the what's important.
What are your payment options?
Weddings can add up fast and I offer payment plans for those. They need to be completely paid in full no later than one month (4 weeks) before the ceremony and with a 50% retainer put down to book your date. 2018 is currently booking and I'm accepting clients for 2019 as well.
Any other session also requires a 50% retainer upfront to book and payment in full at least 2 weeks before shoot date. Payment plans are available for packages and albums afterwards!
