Fort Vancouver Spring Cherry Blossoms and Puppies // Kid Portrait Session // Vancouver, WA
My friend Lena bringing Bo Crocker the blue french bulldog into her life has been the highlight of Jaxin's 3-and-a-half years thus far. This dog is all he talks about.
I saw a shoot from my friend Gabby Barwise the night before and gasped- there were cherry blossoms?! AT THE FORT?! I frantically looked for a couple to model, but to no avail. I was about to have even more photos of Jaxin. I stopped at Target for snacks and a small bargaining prize. A shiny new Lightning McQueen. Three-and-a-half years and I know the recipe to a good shoot with Jaxin.
On the way I drove past a red pickup truck and recognized another photog, Crystal McMonnies. She came back and sat in the grass with us, even shaking the cherry blossoms over Jaxin! The forecast called for rain the rest of the week. These blossoms would be blown away within 24 hours and we had to make the best of it.
Lena and Bo missed the golden, liquidy, outpouring of orange and yellow light, as they ran in several directions trying to find us. But we ended up camped out in the grass together until dark, just talking and snapping photos and trying to remember where Bo pooped. Jaxin, bruised knees, runny nose, and out of breath never stopped grinning. As joggers ran by he would scream "this is my dog Bo!" I even considered putting a dog in future plans for him. But for now, we're just happy that Lena lets us cuddle her pup every now and then.
